West Point Cadet Parade Dress Uniform
The items in this case are from the estate of James A. Summer. They are on loan thanks to the generosity of John Summer, son of James Summer. This is the type of uniform, which would have been worn by West Point cadets during ceremonial events, parades and significant events. The photo depicts cadet James A. Summer wearing the uniform and presenting the sword salute. James A. Summer, a graduate of class of 1945, which graduated from an accelerated three-year program due to WWII, served on active duty until 1957, serving in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He passed away in 2012.
