Trojans sans Hoovers Fly-In
Estrella WarBirds Museum, Paso Robles
October 11th thru 13th, 2007
Normally billed as the "Trojans and Hoovers," this year, unfortunately, was missing the Hoovers. Unexpected (and unseasonable) rainy weather throughout California kept many of the birds grounded at home. However, the weather did permit one full day of formation flying above the skies of Paso Robles and parts of San Louis Obispo County. The purpose of this annual event is to provide a time when pilots whom participate in Air Shows, can spend a specific amount of time in various formation flying patterns. Participating pilots planned each flight, flew their formations, then following the flight, debriefed as they would have during their military training.
During this same time period, some of the local museum members and several guests were allowed to fly in the rear seat of these T-28 "Trojan" planes, originally used for military pilot training. For those who got the chance, it was a thrilling flight they will never forget!
A special "Thank You" goes out to all the volunteers whom participated in the event, parking and refueling planes, (even washing some), or provided other conveniences for the visiting pilots. It was a job well done!
